Cher’s back! Alicia Silverstone leads 'Clueless' sequel

As if! It’s time to brush up on your ’90s lingo and pull out all your yellow plaid because Clueless is making a comeback!

Renowned actress Alicia Silverstone is reportedly set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in a Clueless sequel series for Peacock.

While the series is currently in development and plot details remain under wraps, what’s confirmed so far is Silverstone’s involvement, the continuation of the original 1995 film’s storyline, and the creative team behind it.

This new spin-off is unrelated to the earlier Clueless series Peacock was planning back in 2020.

Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the creative minds behind the original Gossip Girl and its reboot, are teaming up with Dollface creator Jordan Weiss to write the upcoming series. All three will also serve as executive producers, joining forces with Clueless writer-director Amy Heckerling and original film producer Robert Lawrence. The project will be produced by CBS Studios and Universal Television.

This won’t be the first time Clueless has made the jump to the small screen. A television adaptation aired from 1996 to 1999 on ABC and UPN, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.

Silverstone recently stepped back into her iconic role in a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten, proving she's more than ready to raid Cher’s closet once again.

With Silverstone and Heckerling both on board, this reboot is already looking like a total Betty.
