Churches across Metro Manila have released their Holy Week 2025 schedules as Filipino Catholics prepare for one of the most solemn and sacred observances in the liturgical calendar.

Holy Week, regarded as the culmination of Lenten penitence and reflection, commemorates the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a time to contemplate the sacrifice of Christ and His redemptive act that brought salvation.

Below are the official Holy Week schedules for Manila Cathedral, Quiapo Church, and Baclaran Church from Good Friday to Easter Sunday:

Manila Cathedral

The Manila Cathedral will hold the following liturgical activities:

  • Good Friday, 18 April
    9:00 AM – Stations of the Cross
    12:00 PM – Siete Palabras
    3:00 PM – Celebration of the Passion of the Lord, presided over by His Eminence Jose F. Cardinal Advincula

  • Black Saturday, 19 April
    8:00 PM – Easter Vigil, also to be led by Cardinal Advincula

  • Easter Sunday, 20 April
    Holy Masses will be held at 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 4:00 PM, and 6:00 PM

Quiapo Church

Quiapo Church, home to the image of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno, will begin its Good Friday observances at midnight:

  • Good Friday, 18 April
    12:00 MN – Nazareno Procession
    8:00 AM – Morning Prayer and Novena
    12:00 PM – Reflection on the Seven Last Words (Siete Palabras)
    3:00 PM – Celebration of the Passion of the Lord
    4:00 PM – Burial Procession featuring Mater Dolorosa and San Juan Apostol
    7:00 PM – Overnight Vigil for the Santo Entierro

  • Black Saturday, 19 April
    7:00 AM – Procesión Silencio of Birhen ng Soledad de Porta Vaga
    8:00 AM – Morning Prayer
    3:00 PM – Novena and Chaplet of Divine Mercy
    8:00 PM – Easter Vigil, followed by the Salubong procession at Plaza Miranda

  • Easter Sunday, 20 April
    Holy Masses will be held hourly in the morning from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and in the afternoon at 12:15 PM, 5:00 PM, 6:00 PM, and 7:00 PM

National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe

The National Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Orense, Makati, will also open its doors to Filipino devotees this Lenten season, hosting a series of religious activities such as Masses, Penitential Rites, and a Kumpisalang Bayan.

  • Good Friday, 18 April
    4:30 AM - Parish Wide Stations of the Cross

    12:00 NN - Seven Last Words

    3:00 PM - Veneration of the Cross

    5:00 PM - Lord's Burial Procession

    9:00 PM - Soledad Procession

  • Black Saturday, 19 April
    6:00AM - Morning Prayer (Tapeyac Hall of Life)

    8:00PM - Easter Vigil

  • Easter Sunday, 20 April
    4:00AM - Salubong

    5:00AM - Easter Dawn Mass

    *Regular Sunday Mass Schedule except 05:00AM Holy Mass

Baclaran Church

The National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Baclaran will observe the following Holy Week schedule:

  • Good Friday, 18 April
    9:00 AM – Stations of the Cross (Via Crucis)
    1:00 PM – The Seven Last Words
    3:00 PM – Veneration of the Cross (Pagsamba sa Krus)

  • Holy Saturday, 19 April
    9:00 AM – Prayer of Sorrow
    9:30 PM – Easter Vigil, followed by the Salubong

Catholics are encouraged to attend these Holy Week liturgies as an expression of faith and remembrance of Christ’s passion and resurrection. The faithful are also advised to arrive early due to expected large crowds.
