Ian de Leon, son of the late National Artist and Philippine cinema’s Superstar Nora Aunor, stood before the media alongside his brothers and sisters to speak about their mother’s passing and the legacy she left behind.
The press conference, held at The Chapels, Heritage Park in Taguig, served not only as an announcement of the wake schedule but also a moving tribute to a woman who touched millions through her artistry and compassion.
“Marami kaming pinagdaanang pagsubok (We went through many trials),” Ian began, his voice steady yet filled with emotion. “Naging matatag kami dahil nakita namin na naging matatag siya (We stayed strong because we saw how strong she was).” He recalled how their mother was a pillar of strength, teaching them resilience not through words, but through the way she lived her life—with dignity, faith, and selflessness.
“She taught us to draw strength from God and to pray no matter what trials may come,” he said. “Lagi niyang inuuna ang ibang tao bago ang kanyang sarili (She always put others before herself). Whether she was making a film or performing on stage, it was never about her. It was always about how she could make people feel something or inspire something in them. That’s why she was called the Superstar.”
Ian also expressed gratitude to family friends and colleagues who have supported them during this difficult time. He gave special thanks to Vilma Santos and Senator Robin Padilla. “Alam namin napaka-busy ninyo pero pinili niyong pumunta dito para makasama si Mommy. Maraming, maraming salamat po (We know you’re very busy, but you still chose to come here to be with Mommy. Thank you very, very much).”
