Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, along with Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado and airport officials, conducted a pre-dawn inspection of Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Holy Tuesday as passenger volume continued to surge during the Holy Week travel rush.
The inspection, held around 4:30 a.m., focused on operations at the immigration area — one of the airport's busiest zones during peak travel periods. Officials from the Department of Transportation, the Bureau of Immigration, the Manila International Airport Authority, and private operator New NAIA Infrastructure Corp. coordinated efforts to ease congestion.
Additional immigration officers were deployed during peak hours to improve passenger flow and reduce wait times.
NAIA expects to handle around 145,620 passengers Tuesday, up from 142,560 the previous day. Over 1.18 million travelers are projected to pass through the airport from 13 to 20 April, a 14 percent increase from last year, officials said.
