Pasig mayoral candidate Sarah Discaya assured the timely distribution of school supplies and uniforms if elected as the new local chief executive in the upcoming May elections.

“Have the school uniforms and supplies been completed here? Have they been given to the parents? Ah, not yet. Because in other areas, they have already been distributed,” Discaya asked local constituents in Filipino during a caucus meeting in Barangay Bambang on Tuesday evening.

“So, that’s one of our priorities — before the school year starts, we want the children’s supplies to be complete. All their uniforms, bags and notebooks should already be provided. You won’t have to worry about how to spend money or buy supplies for your children,” she added.

As part of her livelihood program, Discaya said mothers who know how to sew will be given additional work opportunities by sewing school uniforms at home.

“Of course, we want to provide livelihood to women. I know that there used to be a program where those who know how to sew school uniforms were given livelihood opportunities,” Discaya said.

“So, through this, we can ensure that there will be no delays in the distribution of uniforms. That’s what we want to happen,” she added.

Discaya, a true-blooded Pasigueña, also vowed to prioritize Pasigueños in the hiring of city hall employees.

“We want to provide jobs for Pasigueños. Of course, we want to prioritize Pasigueños in getting hired because at St. Gerard, 99 percent of our employees are Pasigueños,” she said.

“So, we want to make the city hall 100 percent Pasigueño. That’s what we want to happen — to provide jobs for Pasigueños,” she added.
