President Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. on Monday reminded the newly promoted senior officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to lead with integrity and pride, setting a strong example in carrying out their duties.
Marcos emphasized the crucial responsibilities now entrusted to these 39 newly promoted star-rank officers of the police force, who took their oath at Malacañan Palace in Manila.
He also reminded the PNP officials that they must now "guide, discipline, and inspire" the men and women under their command.
“It is, thus, incumbent upon you to lead by example. The road ahead will not be easy, but this, I know, you wear your badges not just on your chest, but in your convictions,” Marcos said.
The President ordered the PNP to ensure that all police personnel are “fulfilling their duties with integrity, competence, and trustworthiness.”
Marcos stressed that the “police force plays a very significant role" in maintaining peace and order, protecting communities, and responding in times of calamities.
He also emphasized that the public expects the police organization to be reliable, responsive, and steadfast in its commitment to protecting the lives of every Filipino.
“Filipinos expect to live in a safe, fair, and just environment where peace and order are observed while upholding the rights and dignity of all citizens,” he said.
Marcos then challenged the officers to meet the challenges ahead and fulfill those expectations.
“We must meet them with every ounce of our strength. We must not falter. We must deliver,” Marcos said.
He further reminded the police officers that “there is no greater, more honorable calling than to serve and protect the country.”
