The Philippine national women’s football squad attempts to prove that its previous win was genuine when it faces United Arab Emirates anew in a friendly in Tuesday at the UAE Football Association Headquarters in Al Khawaneej.
Kick-off starts at 11:30 p.m. (Manila time) as the Filipinas look to repeat their 4-1 win last Friday, despite veterans Sarina Bolden, Quinley Quezada and Jaclyn Sawicki absent due to injuries.
Striker Chandler McDaniel led the way for the Filipinas after netting a brace in the 19th and 33rd minutes of the match.
Defender Hali Long started the scoring spree for the Philippines in the fifth minute while Meryll Serrano scored in the 31st minute.
Juma Naeema was the lone Emirati to score in the 89th minute.
Instead of taking it easy, Torcaso said they have to be ready for UAE’s fightback.
“We’ll start our training sessions on Sunday and then we’ll build that to the second game,” Torcaso said.
“It’ll be even harder in the second game because they now know the way that we play but we’ll also want that challenge. It’s very important for us to have that challenge.”
This camp is part of the Filipinas’ buildup for the ASEAN MSIG Serenity Cup in Indonesia this June and the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers from 29 June to 5 July in Cambodia.
