Two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo is set to return to France to reunite with OAJLP Gymnastique for another season.

The club announced the signing on Friday, with the 26-year-old Filipino gymnast looking to regain his form following a medal-less campaign at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands, last month.

“Carlos Yulo is part of the Antibes team for this season!” the club announced on social media.

Yulo was part of the squad that captured the French Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Championship Top 12 title last May.

His return to French competition comes at a crucial point in his preparations for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, with next year’s World Championships in Chengdu, China, serving as a qualifying event for the Summer Games.

The eight highest-ranked eligible male all-around gymnasts and 14 highest-ranked eligible female all-around gymnasts in the qualification round will earn Olympic quotas, with a maximum of one gymnast per National Olympic Committee.

Athletes from countries that have already secured team quotas, including China and Japan, will not be eligible for these individual spots.

Yulo can also qualify through the apparatus route, which rewards the highest-ranked eligible gymnast in each event. He used this pathway to secure his place at the 2024 Paris Olympics through the 2023 World Championships in Antwerp, Belgium.

In Los Angeles, Yulo will look to defend his Olympic gold medals in floor exercise and vault while also pursuing an individual all-around title.
