

Government officials, business leaders and sustainability advocates gathered at Okada Manila on 21 March for the 8th Nation Builders & MOSLIV Awards, recognizing outstanding contributions in governance, corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability.
Organized by Sustainability Standards Inc. (SSI), the event highlighted individuals and organizations driving progress toward sustainable development goals (SDGs). More than 1,000 attendees, including policymakers and industry executives, participated in the ceremony.
United States Senator Shelly V. Calvo emphasized leadership’s role in sustainability, while Senator Mark Villar and former Senator Leila de Lima underscored policy-driven progress and empowerment as key to overcoming socio-environmental challenges. Climate Change Commissioner Albert P. dela Cruz, Sr. and Ambassador Mache Torres Ackerman called for urgent action on climate policies.
Public officials honored for their commitment to sustainability included Rep. Gustavo S. Tambunting (Parañaque), Rep. Emmarie Ouano-Dizon (Mandaue), Rep. Eric Yap (Benguet), Gov. Edwin I. Jubahib (Davao del Norte) and officials from the DILG, LTO and DENR. Mayors and vice mayors from Pasay, Tayabas, Manila and Malabon were also recognized.
In the private sector, business leaders awarded CEO of the Year included Derrick M. Tan (Magna Prime Chemical Technologies), Diosdado Serviento (Biostar Nutriproducts) and Renz Calvin Estrella (Zenith Capital). Other honorees included Bernardino Caramba (PMS - Prime Power Network) and Cristhel Fraulein Gardoce Bulabon (Mrs. Earth International) for philanthropic contributions.
Cities recognized for sustainability efforts included Tayabas (Quezon), Kidapawan (Cotabato) and Cauayan (Isabela). Arayat (Pampanga) was named the Most Sustainable and Liveable Municipality. Educational institutions such as Davao de Oro State College and Eastern Samar State University were honored for sustainability initiatives.
Corporate awardees included Magna Prime and Biostar Nutriproducts for sustainability leadership, Malayan Insurance for sustainable business practices and Aqua Technologies for clean water innovation. Solarnrg Philippines and Yovel East Research & Dev’t Inc. were recognized for contributions to renewable energy and agroecology, respectively.
The MOSLIV Sector Awards honored “The Baklitas” as Podcast of the Year, 106.7 EnergyFM Manila as Radio Station of the Year and Hiraya as the Breakthrough P-Pop Group of the Year. Jerome Granada won Best Male Vocalist, and the Brgy. Granada Masskara Dancers received an award for excellence in cultural sustainability.
Since 2018, the Nation Builders & MOSLIV Awards have recognized over 800 individuals and organizations advancing sustainability. SSI president and CEO Kenneth Rocete reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to achieving the UN SDG 2030 Agenda.
