ilipino nationals have been advised to exercise caution and avoid areas where demonstrations are expected following the impeachment of South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol on Friday.

The Philippine Embassy in Korea issued a statement urging Filipinos to stay vigilant as the Seoul Metropolitan Government has implemented precautionary measures, including declaring Special Crime Prevention Zones.

“Traffic restrictions will be in place near the Constitutional Court, and access to nearby palaces, museums and schools will be temporarily suspended,” the statement noted.

Additionally, Anguk Station on Subway Line 3 has been temporarily closed, and other stations may close without prior notice, depending on developments.

Yoon’s impeachment follows his controversial declaration of martial law in December, which led to political unrest. His removal takes effect immediately, and a new election must be held within the next 60 days.

The court’s decision sparked celebrations from anti-Yoon groups, with the most recent protests taking place at Gwanghwamun Square.
