The Philippine Embassy in Myanmar is actively monitoring the welfare of Filipinos in the country following the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar.

In its latest advisory, the embassy assured the public that all communication lines remain open, ready to provide necessary assistance and support to Filipinos affected by the earthquake.

The embassy’s most recent update emphasized ongoing efforts to locate four Filipinos still missing after the earthquake. “The Philippine Embassy in Yangon remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our nationals and is exerting all possible efforts to account for the four missing Filipinos,” the statement read.

Phl embassy in Myanmar: Four Filipinos 'unaccounted for'

In addition to the search and rescue efforts, the embassy also facilitated the temporary relocation of distressed Filipinos affected by the quake. “The Embassy Assessment Team in Mandalay facilitated the temporary voluntary relocation of fifteen Filipinos in distress on April 3, 2025. The Embassy remains open to receiving requests for assistance from Filipinos in distress due to the March 28, 2025 earthquake,” the statement continued.

The embassy expressed its gratitude to those who have contributed to the relief efforts, stating, “The Embassy thanks all those who have contributed to the relief efforts through various forms of assistance.”

Regarding the rescue and recovery efforts for the four missing Filipinos, the embassy confirmed that its assessment team will meet with the ASEAN Emergency Response and Assessment Team (ERAT) in Mandalay. The ERAT is expected to support efforts at the Sky Villa building, where the missing individuals are believed to be located.

Phl Embassy in Myanmar assures support for Filipinos amid devastating quake

Furthermore, the Philippine Embassy, in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Office of the Undersecretary for Migration Affairs (DFA-OUMA), has engaged the National Bureau of Investigation’s Disaster Victim Identification Division (NBI-DVID). Preparations are underway for their deployment to Myanmar to assist with identifying victims.

As of the latest report, Myanmar has recorded at least 3,085 fatalities, with 341 people injured and over 4,715 others reported to be wounded. The Philippine Embassy continues to prioritize the safety of all its nationals and remains committed to providing assistance to those in need.
