The Philippine Embassy in Myanmar is closely monitoring the welfare of Filipinos in the country following the powerful magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck Myanmar.

In its latest advisory posted on social media, the embassy reaffirmed that all communication lines remain open to provide assistance and support.

"The Embassy continues to conduct welfare checks on affected Filipinos, and all Embassy communication lines remain open to provide assistance and support. The Embassy is also preparing to deploy a team to Mandalay for an on-the-ground assessment and direct welfare checks on Filipinos in the area," the statement read.

The Philippine Embassy has also mobilized efforts to distribute essential supplies to those in need.

"Arrangements are being made to mobilize and distribute essential supplies and basic necessities, including the identification of possible evacuation routes for relocation or repatriation," the embassy added.

Additionally, the embassy urged Filipinos to remain vigilant due to potential aftershocks.

"The Embassy urges everyone to stay alert for possible aftershocks. We also encourage continued communication with fellow Filipinos in your community to ensure each other’s safety," the advisory stated.

For emergencies, the embassy can be reached through the Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) hotline at +95 998 521 0991 or via the official Philippine Embassy in Myanmar Facebook Messenger.

As of this writing, Myanmar has reported at least 1,700 fatalities, with at least 18 deaths recorded in neighboring Thailand.
