University of Perpetual Help System Dalta aims to regain its winning touch when it battles Letran College in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 100 women’s volleyball tournament today at the Home of the Altas Gym in Las Piñas City.
Lady Altas coach Sandy Rieta said they will come up with a better defense and more fiery offense in their 1 p.m. match against the Lady Knights to get back on the winning track of the country’s oldest collegiate tournament.
Right now, Perpetual and Letran are tied at 6-1 behind leader College of Saint Benilde, which will clash with Mapua University in the 11 a.m. encounter. The men’s squad of the Blazers and the Cardinals will tip things off in the 9 a.m. match of this explosive quadruple header.
Rieta said they picked up a lot of lessons in their 25-16, 25-22, 25-18 loss to the Lady Blazers last Sunday.
“After our defeat in Benilde, we focus more on our practice on floor defense and blocking in preparation for our next game,” said Rieta, who wll bank on Shaila Omipon, Winnie Bedana Pauline Reyes, Bea Uy, rookie Jemalyn Menor, setter Fianne Ariola and liberos Marina Andal and Jodi Lozano as they seek to come up with a strong finish in the first round.
Meanwhile, the Altas of head coach Macky Cariño will face the Knights at 3 p.m. with the ultimate goal of making it back to the win column.
