‘Messenger of Hope’: Kiko Pangilinan pays tribute to Pope Francis

Former senator and now-senatorial candidate Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan joined Catholics around the world in expressing gratitude for Pope Francis’ discharge from the hospital and called on the faithful to continue praying for his full recovery.

“I join the faithful millions who are thankful for the good news that Pope Francis has been discharged from the hospital,” Pangilinan said in Filipino.

“I’m also happy that we have now seen him again after his long confinement,” he added.

The Pope made his first public appearance on Sunday, 23 March, offering a blessing from the window of his hospital room in Rome.

Pangilinan highlighted Pope Francis’ deep connection with Filipinos, recalling his visit to the Philippines in January 2015 and his show of solidarity with survivors of Supertyphoon Yolanda. He also cited the Pope’s message to Filipinos in Rome, where the pontiff affectionately described them as “smugglers of faith” for spreading devotion wherever they work.

“In these challenging times, Pope Francis has been a steadfast messenger of hope. His humility and unwavering faith remind us that true progress comes from lifting each other up,” Pangilinan said.

“Let us continue praying for Pope Francis’ health and well-being. May he grow stronger so that he can continue his important work for peace and unity,” he added.
