The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) rolled out child labor caravans nationwide aimed at protecting children's rights, uplifting vulnerable families, and providing them with the necessary support services to overcome the challenges of child labor.

In Nueva Vizcaya, DOLE awarded P450,000 worth of livelihood kits to 10 parents of child laborers, complemented by training on entrepreneurship, productivity, and safety to ensure the sustainability of their businesses.

Meanwhile, in Metro Manila, DOLE-National Capital Region, in collaboration with the local government of Quezon City, launched its first information caravan at the QCX Museum in Quezon Memorial Circle.

The event highlighted the government's efforts to combat child labor through education, support services, and stakeholder collaboration.

In Central Luzon, DOLE and the City Government of San Jose del Monte, along with private partners, provided 43 child laborers with goods and services under Project Angel Tree, including medical services, skills training, and livelihood support for their parents.

Earlier this year, DOLE Bicol launched the "DOLE Tree of Love" project to support child laborers and typhoon-affected communities in Catanduanes. Beneficiaries received food packs and other relief goods.

In Malinao, Albay, during the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program award ceremony last year, DOLE-Bicol distributed P3.75 million worth of livelihood kits, including barber tools, pedicabs, and Negokarts to 129 parents of child laborers and skills workers.

The Negokarts enable recipients to start or expand small businesses like food vending, providing a sustainable source of income and improving their families' economic conditions.

Similarly, DOLE-Eastern Visayas celebrated the first anniversary of the Philippines' ratification of International Labour Organization Convention No. 190 with an information and service caravan in Northern Samar.

The event benefited 130 participants who received school supplies, grocery packs, and government services, including a Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)-led malunggay noodle-making demo.

Meanwhile, DOLE-Soccsksargen also held a caravan in General Santos City, benefiting 190 child laborers and their parents.

Participants were awarded P450,500 worth of livelihood assistance and free medical and dental check-ups. They also received services from TESDA, the Social Security System, PhilHealth, the Philippine Statistics Authority, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

As of 25 February, the nationwide caravans have supported 4,301 participants, providing P12.9 million in livelihood assistance to 415 parents of 1,180 child laborers who received school supplies, food packs, hygiene kits, toys, and cash assistance under Project Angel Tree.
