Former senator and senatorial candidate Kiko Pangilinan received strong backing from local officials during his visit to Panay Island.
In Capiz, Pangilinan gained the endorsement of Gov. Fredenil Castro, where they discussed his Sagip Saka Act, aimed at supporting farmers and strengthening food security. Pangilinan also presented Castro with a copy of the Act, which allows direct purchases from rice farmers without public bidding.
Pangilinan also met with local leaders in a breakfast meeting, including Vice Governor James Magbanua, Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas, and 1st District Board Member Thea Faith Reyes.
In Aklan, Pangilinan held a courtesy call with Vice Gov. Reynaldo Quimpo to discuss issues related to agriculture, food security, and livelihood. He emphasized the need for increased support for farmers and fishermen in the province, which relies heavily on agriculture and fisheries.
Pangilinan also met with Kalibo Mayor Juris Sucro and Vice Mayor Doc Cynthia Dela Cruz to discuss local agriculture and food manufacturing. During his visit, he thanked his supporters and volunteers in Altavas and Kalibo.
In the 2022 vice-presidential race, Pangilinan placed second in Capiz, Aklan, and Antique, with 142,084, 103,175, and 91,665 votes, respectively.
