Former unified world super-bantamweight champion Marlon Tapales and ex-world featherweight champion Mark Magsayo lead the cast of Filipino boxers who made the grade in the latest ratings released by the World Boxing Council.

Tapales and Magsayo came in at second in the 122-lb division while Magsayo was listed at super-feather (130 pounds).

Seven others made it to March 2025 ratings, including three-division champion John Riel Casimero at No. 10 in the super-bantam class.

The rest who crashed the rankings include Vic Saludar at No. 13 in the minimumweight class; Christian Araneta at No. 7 and Jayson Vayson at No. 8 in the light-fly bracket; Vince Paras at No. 11 at fly; Jay-R Raquinel at No. 5 at super-fly; and Charly Suarez at No. 15 at super-feather.

Tapales remains active and is in fact slated to see action on 14 April in Siem Reap in Cambodia.

The WBC Ratings Committee is made up of 17 members, a chairman and vice chairman and executive secretary. One of the members is Filipino Juan Miguel Elorde, grandson of the Hall of Famer Gabriel “Flash” Elorde.
