Herlene Budol on the price of success: ‘I feel like an OFW’

Herlene Budol recently sat down with Boy Abunda on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” and shared the realities of her newfound fame, revealing the emotional toll her hectic schedule has taken.

The TV host began by asking, “You are enjoying a certain amount of success, a type of success that you worked hard for. What are the disadvantages?”

Budol candidly responded, “There are those who judge me, questioning whether I deserve to be where I am now. Many people don’t believe in me.”

She attributed her resilience to her unwavering determination. “I’ve reached a point where I don’t care what others say about me. I didn’t get here easily. I worked hard to get where I am now. I will make sure I don’t waste what God has given me, so I can motivate and inspire more people that if I could, they can do it, too.”

The GMA artist also opened up about a more personal struggle: the distance from her loved ones. “I feel like an OFW,” she confessed, referring to overseas Filipino workers who often endure long periods of separation from their families.

“I’ve experienced what it’s like to eat alone, to sleep alone,” she shared, highlighting the loneliness accompanying her busy life.
