At least three alleged drug pushers were arrested after a successful buy-bust operation conducted on Friday morning.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Aniway Jr., head of the District Drug Enforcement Unit of the Northern Police District, said the drug sting operation resulted in the recovery of suspected marijuana and shabu.
The police operation occurred along Magdalena Street, Barangay 163, Sta. Quiteria, Caloocan City and Aniway disclosed that they are still investigating the potential connection between the arrested suspects and other individuals apprehended in prior operations by the Northern Police District.
Police operatives recovered approximately 57 grams of suspected shabu, valued at P387,600, and seven grams of suspected marijuana.
The arrested individuals were identified as alias “Daniel,” a 33-year-old motor-taxi rider, alias “Stephanie” and alias “Utchay.”
“The area where the buy-bust operation was conducted was tricky because it is near the boundary of Caloocan City and Quezon City,” Aniway said.
He explained that if the target individuals moved to other cities outside the Northern Police District’s jurisdiction, they would need to coordinate with the “territorial” police districts, potentially affecting the planned operation.
Anti-drug operatives are still conducting a thorough investigation into the possible syndicate operating behind the arrested suspects.
“We are still checking that possibility, especially since one cannot simply possess that huge amount of illegal drugs while operating alone,” the anti-drug police chief added.
The arrested individuals are set to undergo inquest proceedings.
