The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to meet with the production team of “Batang Quiapo” to address the misrepresentation of election laws in one of its episodes.
Comelec chairperson George Garcia said that although the TV series features fictional characters and storylines, correcting the wrong interpretation of election laws is necessary to prevent misinformation among its millions of viewers.
“We understand it’s fictional, but it may still cause confusion about the laws we enforce,” Garcia said in Filipino. “The law is not fictional, and we hope it’s portrayed correctly before the local campaign period begins.”
