At least 31 people were injured after a bus collided with another bus at the Guadalupe EDSA bus carousel on Monday night, 10 March, authorities disclosed.
A report from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Makati City police showed that the crash occurred around 9:30 PM near the boundary of Boni, Mandaluyong, and Guadalupe, Makati.
One of the bus conductors said the bus he was on had stopped to give way to a motorcycle passing through the center island under the MRT-3 when it was hit by the bus behind them.
The driver of the bus that collided with the other claimed that the brakes of his vehicle failed, causing the crash.
Eight passengers were injured on the bus the conductor was on, while 23 others were hurt onboard the bus that hit them.
First responders were immediately deployed to the area to administer first aid to the injured passengers.
Other passengers who were hurt were brought to the nearest hospital for treatment.
The MMDA promptly issued alternative routes to motorists due to traffic congestion caused by the collision.
The incident is currently being investigated by authorities.
