The late veteran actress Jaclyn Jose was featured in the "In Memoriam" segment of the 2025 Academy Awards (Oscars), recognizing artists and filmmakers who passed away in the past year.

On its official In Memoriam webpage, the Academy stated, "The Academy honors friends and colleagues we lost over the last year. Take a moment to remember the artists and filmmakers we lost in 2024-2025."

Jose’s daughter, Andi Eigenmann, shared a screenshot of her mother’s photo and name on the website, expressing her gratitude.

"My Nanay is among other Hollywood artists and filmmakers who are remembered by the Academy this year," Eigenmann wrote.

A legacy of excellence

Jaclyn Jose, who passed away in March 2024 due to a heart attack, had a four-decade career in film and television, earning Gawad Urian, Luna Awards, and FAMAS honors.

She began acting in 1984 with Chicas and Private Show, the latter earning her a FAMAS nomination. She later transitioned to television, gaining widespread recognition for her role as Magda in Mula Sa Puso.

Her career thrived across major networks, with standout performances in Sana'y Ikaw Na Nga, My Husband’s Lover, Marimar, Hiram, Agua Bendita, and more.

A historic Cannes win

In 2016, Jose made history as the first Filipino and Southeast Asian to win Best Actress at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival for her performance in Brillante Mendoza’s Ma’ Rosa.

Her extensive filmography also includes memorable roles in White Slavery (Lino Brocka), The Flor Contemplacion Story, and Patay na si Hesus, among many others. Her final on-screen appearance was in FPJ's Batang Quiapo in 2023.

As the world remembers her, Jaclyn Jose’s enduring impact on Philippine cinema and television remains undeniable.
