Davao City’s City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) bared that political candidates may attend the 88th Araw ng Dabaw Parada Dabawenyo on 16 March but must strictly follow set rules and regulations.

CTTO chief Jennifer Romeo at the iSpeak Media Forum said that those running for office must not use the venue for political campaigns.

She added that security personnel accompanying candidates are strictly prohibited which is based on the Araw ng Dabaw restrictions.

Generic restrictions such as hurling giveaways to spectators in the form of candies, fans, caps, hand towels and any form of promotional materials will also apply to the attending candidates.

Rules generic

“These generic guidelines apply even beyond the elections. They are not allowed to throw anything,” she said.

The CTOO also expects Vice President Sara Duterte and former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to attend the event along with other local and national candidates.

Restricted activities during the parade include distributing/throwing flyers, placards, and handbills. Chanting foul language and any anti-government expression is also strictly prohibited.
