Los Angeles County homicide detectives are investigating after a woman was shot and killed in the Westmont neighborhood of South Los Angeles on the evening of 24 February 2025.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 1200 block of West 87th Street, near the intersection of Vermont and Manchester avenues, at around 9:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital by Los Angeles City Fire but was later pronounced dead.
Authorities confirmed that a man was also shot in the foot and was receiving medical treatment.
Investigators said the suspect was last seen behind the shooting location and either walked or ran away from the scene.
The names of the victims have not been released, and details about the suspect remain unknown. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation.
