A select group of art enthusiasts and collectors spent their afternoon at the Flame Restaurant of Discovery Primea for the private preview of the Art House’s newest offering for National Arts Month, Lakbay: Voyages Into The Absolute with Nena Saguil.
Three artworks stood by the entrance to give guests a peek into the stories about the Philippine diaspora to unfold in February. In his welcome remarks, ArtHouse founder and CEO Carlo Pineda said, “Art House is a platform for Filipino talent. What we want to showcase to the Philippines and to the global market is that [the] Philippines has got talent. It is true. The vision for Art House is really to talk about Philippine Culture through talent. And what better way to do it through the Philippine diaspora that a lot of our fellow Filipinos live today? We are 16 million strong all around the world and each of these families are connected to families here in the Philippines.”
With Nena Saguil as the featured artist, Lakbay brought together nine internationally established Filipino creatives that included Jana Benitez, Rose Cameron, Kim Cruz, Lizza May David, John Wayne Forte, Marissa Gonzalez, Rasco Jugarap, Kulay Labitingan and Jacklyn Reyes. In Lakbay, this collection of global Philippine talents reacted, reflected and responded to the life, praxis and works of Nena Saguil. During National Arts Month, from 8 to 12 February, art enthusiasts and avid collectors experienced Philippine creativity as a conduit for cultural exchange and community engagement.
