Love Month took a meaningful turn for the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries, who are members of the Southern Legazpi Upland Barangays (SLUB) Linksfarm Farmers Association after the Department of Agrarian Reform Provincial Office Albay and the Albay Veterinary Office (AVO), successfully partnered to provide them with Native Chicken Production Training.
The initiative aims to equip the ARBs with essential knowledge and direct livelihood assistance. Furthermore, 60 native chickens were donated to the farmers to enhance their poultry production.
Engr. Ralph Ibieta, farm manager of the Albay Livestock Station, led the discussions on best practices in native chicken production. At the same time, AVO planning officer Rocky Roger Lozanes discussed the Memorandum of Agreement between AVO and SLUB, outlining their long-term collaboration. The event took place at Sitio Tigasao Chapel in Mariawa.
Albay Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Pacho R. Mella facilitated the distribution of native chickens, reaffirming AVO’s commitment to strengthening local farming communities.
For SLUB Linksfarm Farmers Association members, this initiative represents more than just training — it is a stepping stone toward greater productivity and resilience. The Love Month event underscored the power of partnerships in creating sustainable opportunities for farmers, who remain the backbone of Albay’s agricultural landscape.
This year, love was expressed in words and meaningful action — investing in the future of Albay’s hardworking farmers.
