‘Rapist’ teacher behind bars

The Eastern Police District (EPD) on Tuesday revealed that a 36-year-old teacher was arrested for allegedly raping his 14-year-old student inside a motel in Pasig City and a lodging house in Antipolo City.

Authorities identified the suspect only with an alias and was apprehended after two warrants of arrest were served — first in Iloilo province and second while he was in a jail in Pasig City on 16 February 2025.

Police said that the arrested suspect is considered the No. 2 most wanted person in the Eastern Police District and the No. 3 most wanted person in Pasig City.

The suspect was first arrested in Pavia, Iloilo, on 13 February 2025, by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued on 5 November 2024, by Presiding Judge Jesus Angelito Huertas of Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 261 for statutory rape.

However, while detained in a custodial facility in Pasig City, authorities learned that the suspect was also facing another case as another warrant of arrest was served against him.

It was issued on 9 October 2004 by Presiding Judge Joanne Gironella-Gastrock of Antipolo Regional Trial Court Branch 98 for rape under Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code.

Information revealed that the suspect and the minor victim had a relationship, but the suspect took advantage of her naivety.

The victim was allegedly raped twice, first on 14 June 2024, inside a motel in Pasig City and then on 26 June 2024 inside a lodging house in Antipolo City.

In August of that year, the victim’s parents reported the rape to authorities after discovering what happened.

The suspect is now detained at the custodial facility of the Pasig City Police Station, awaiting a commitment order from the court.
