Angkas CEO and Angkasangga Party-List first nominee George Royeca has released a statement regarding the revocation of his license by the LTO.
"Whatever decision the Land Transportation Office (LTO) makes regarding our case, we will fully respect and accept it," the statement reads.
"Following the voluntary surrender of my license, we are prepared to face any consequences and adhere to due process. While we await the LTO's decision, we remain committed to taking full accountability for our actions."
In an exclusive interview with DAILY TRIBUNE, Royeca emphasized on Tuesday, 18 February, that there were no excuses for the incident that happened.
"It was my organization, and I have command control over that organization. I'm held to the highest standard," he said.
Accordingly, he added that he completely leaves the decision to the regulators on the necessary penalty.
On Monday, 17 February, the LTO revoked Royeca's license after he took full responsibility for the viral motorcade of the ride-hailing app's riders in Cainta, Rizal, on 4 February.
The riders blocked a section of the road to make a left turn, which caused delays in the flow of vehicles.
This incident occurred just before they participated in a unity ride on Marilaque Highway to promote responsible driving.
As for the riders involved in the motorcade, Royeca said their focus should be on providing the necessary service to the public that they do on a daily basis.
"This issue, whether it’s politically motivated or otherwise… this is my job as the leader of the organization. I will make sure I protect their ability to take care of their families and do good work and service to the public," he said.
With Angkasangga running for a party-list seat in the 2025 Midterm Elections, Royeca said that it would be "highly presumptuous" to assume that it had any connection.
"Even if I’m not running for public office, I am providing a service for the public interest that requires higher scrutiny," he said.
