Senatorial candidate Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan has joined the viral Sobrang Latina trend, bringing humor and curiosity to the online sensation.

In a recorded TikTok video taken from his social media live stream, Pangilinan appeared to be catching up with netizens who kept commenting Sobrang Latina.

"Ano ba iyang mga trend na iyan? (What are those trends?)," he asked his staff behind the camera, showing his amusement over the phrase.

At 61, the senatorial candidate jokingly tried to decipher the Gen Z lingo, giving it a literal meaning. "Bakit, mestizo ba ako? Iyon ba 'yon?" he quipped. "Hindi, mukha lang akong Latino, gano’n."

("Why, am I mestizo? Is that it? No, I just look Latino, that's it.")

Curious about the phrase’s true meaning, he playfully added, "Thank you ha! Aba, siyempre naman, si Sharon — sobrang, sobrang, sobrang Latina! O, ‘di ba? Tama ba ‘yon? Hindi lang sobra, sobra-sobra!"

("Well, of course, Sharon — very, very, very Latina! Oh, isn't it? Isn't that right?")

Sobrang Latina has recently become a popular compliment for someone’s beauty, gaining traction after the Latina makeup trend went viral on social media.
