Since Kendrick Lamar’s debut at the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, 9 February (Monday Philippine time), the internet has been buzzing over the bunched hems of his bootcut jeans.

In addition to his exciting performance featuring multiple undisguised jabs at Drake, the surprise star of the show was the pair of flared Celine jeans he wore on stage.

But here’s an interesting twist — those jeans were originally meant for actor Timothée Chalamet, according to Page Six.

It turns out that both Chalamet and Lamar share the same stylist, Taylor McNeill.

An insider told the outlet that the stylist had initially sourced the pair of women’s jeans for Chalamet, but they unexpectedly ended up working with the "Not Like Us" rapper instead.

Considering the rapper is 5’5 and Chalamet is 5’10, that explained why the jeans seem so long.

Days after the reveal, Chalamet is now the latest celebrity to join in on the bootcut jeans trend. The actor put his own spin on the look by wearing a light wash pair for the premiere of A Complete Unknown at the Berlinale today.

What do you think about the return of bootcut jeans? Do you think they’re making a bold comeback as the next big fashion statement for men? With celebrities like Lamar and Chalamet leading the way, it seems like the trend is here to stay.
