SM Foundation and SM Prime have turned over a brand-new, fully furnished school building to Booy South Elementary School in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, marking another milestone in their commitment to education.
The newly built, two-story, four-classroom facility — SM’s 110th donated school building — aligns with the late Henry Sy Sr.’s vision of uplifting communities through education.
Designed for modern learning, the classrooms come equipped with curved panoramic whiteboards, wall fans, clocks and sanitation facilities, including flush toilets with wash basins.
Each room has 50 armchairs, including left-handed desks to ensure inclusivity.
Beyond classrooms, the building features a clinic, teachers’ room and a mini-library.
A dedicated handwashing area with 10 faucets promotes hygiene among students, while storage rooms provide space for educational materials.
Safety was also a priority in the design, with emergency lights, a fire alarm system, and PWD-friendly features, including ramps and an accessible toilet on the ground floor.
To support digital learning, Mastercard Philippines, a partner of SM Foundation, donated three laptops to the school.
This initiative is part of SM Foundation’s School Building Program, which collaborates with the Department of Education’s Adopt-A-School initiative to address classroom shortages nationwide.
By constructing high-quality educational facilities in areas with urgent needs, the foundation continues to empower young Filipinos through accessible and well-equipped learning spaces.
