The Caloocan City Police arrested two of the four suspects in a hold-up incident near C3 Avenue.
The group was involved in a hold-up incident early Friday morning along Tuna Street in Barangay 28, where at least three pieces of jewelry were stolen from the victim, with a total value of at least P200,000.
Two days later, they struck again on C3 Road, where a 69-year-old resident was held at gunpoint. The suspects took a cellphone, wristwatch, and a wallet containing P5,000 in cash.
Police Major Valmark Funelas, Tuna Substation commander, said the suspects were arrested in Navotas City after a successful intelligence-driven follow-up operation.
“The suspects were outside their homes when we arrived, that’s why they ran inside.”
The arrested individuals were identified as alias “Jasper,” 18, and alias “Lester,” 19, both residents of Navotas City.
The policeman added that one of the suspects had a previous drug-related charge and was only released in January.
Upon arrest, police recovered two caliber .45 pistols and the motorcycles used in their robbery operations.
Funelas said the group is notorious, as they have been involved in multiple robbery cases in Caloocan and the nearby city of Manila.
“Marami na silang series ng robbery hold-up sometimes in Tondo in Manila, and Bagong Barrio and Sangandaan in Caloocan City,” the station commander said.
Despite operating together, he clarified that they are not an organized crime group.
Both “Jasper” and “Lester” are currently detained at the Caloocan City Police Headquarters custodial facility and will face charges of robbery and violation of Republic Act No. 10591 in relation to the Omnibus Election Code, while authorities continue searching for the other two suspects.
