The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) is set to mark its sixth anniversary this week, highlighting its efforts to address the country’s housing backlog and provide affordable, sustainable communities for Filipinos.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar reiterated the agency’s commitment to advancing President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) program, a flagship initiative aimed at expanding access to housing.

With the theme “Six Years of Empowering Lives: Building Homes, Building Futures for Every Filipino Family,” the celebration will showcase key housing initiatives and milestones since the department’s establishment.

The weeklong event kicks off on Monday, 10 February with a housing exhibit featuring developers, ongoing 4PH projects, and financial options from DHSUD’s key shelter agencies, including Pag-IBIG Fund, the National Housing Authority (NHA), the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), and the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC). Free legal consultations and direct assistance for housing loans will also be available.

As part of the celebration, DHSUD will host two "Kapihan sa DHSUD: Housing Matters" discussions on 11 and 13 February, streamed live on its official Facebook page. The episodes will feature local government officials, housing beneficiaries, and key DHSUD figures discussing the department’s future plans.

A ceremonial signing of Comprehensive Land Use Plans (CLUPs) and Provincial Development Physical Framework Plans will be held on 13 February for Angeles City, Agusan del Sur, Negros Occidental, Northern Samar, Pasig City, Bulacan, Laguna, Sarangani, Siquijor, and Zamboanga del Norte. This initiative aims to improve sustainable urban planning.

The main anniversary event on 14 February will focus on DHSUD’s ongoing housing initiatives, with top government officials expected to attend. A fun run on 16 February will cap off the celebrations, promoting camaraderie among DHSUD employees and partner agencies.

Aligned with the "Bagong Pilipinas" governance framework, DHSUD remains focused on expanding homeownership opportunities and strengthening its housing programs.
