Smite 2 developer Hi-Rez Studios had another round of layoffs just four months after its last round of staff cuts and downsizing.
The studio behind Paladins, Rogue Company, and the Smite franchise, Hi-Rez Studios reportedly downsized its Smite 2 team, discretely cutting employees for undisclosed reasons.
Hi-Rez Studios planned to focus its time and resources on developing Smite 2 which is currently on Early Access before the recent layoffs.
"SMITE 1, Paladins and Rogue Company servers will remain available for the foreseeable future, but no further major updates are currently planned for these games," Hi-Rez said in a statement on Discord.
"We plan to keep the servers and currently available content running as long as possible to allow you to continue to enjoy the game."
And while Hi-Rez had to let go of its workforce, the developer says it would give its support in helping ex-employees find a new home.
"Each affected team member has received eight weeks' notice and has our unwavering support in their search for new opportunities," Hi-Rez stated.
"They are exceptionally talented, and any studio would greatly benefit from their skills and passion."
