The British School Manila was recognized for its commitment to combating hunger at the Rise Against Hunger 10th Anniversary Celebration recently at the Ayala Museum.
The award acknowledged BSM’s dedication to service-learning and its role as a steadfast partner in the fight against food insecurity.
For the past four years, BSM’s Year 3 students have been at the forefront of supporting Rise Against Hunger Philippines through creative fundraising efforts.
Their contributions have played a key role in equipping the Rise Against Hunger Food Kitchen at the Better World Community Centre in Tondo with four chest freezers and two chillers.
This support ensures that 400 children receive nutritious meals daily.
Further expanding its impact, BSM recently launched a school garden project at Bungkol Elementary School in Magdalena, Laguna.
This initiative, funded by the school, empowers students, teachers and parents with the skills and resources to cultivate sustainable food sources.
Since its launch in November, the garden has already produced over 10 kilograms of fresh vegetables, enriching the meals provided by Rise Against Hunger with homegrown, nutritious ingredients.
Reflecting on the school’s long-standing collaboration with the organization, Year 3 leader Ross Atkinson emphasized BSM’s commitment to service and community partnerships, highlighting the school’s ongoing efforts to make a tangible difference in the fight against hunger.
