Nature has always been an abundant source of life, wisdom and wonder. In his solo exhibition, Plantae, visual artist Clarence Eduarte explores the intricate beauty of the plant kingdom, translating its organic rhythms and quiet strength into modern, expressive compositions. Inspired by childhood explorations in the forest and a deep appreciation for trees, this exhibit is a reflection of both memory and discovery — an artistic journey shaped by time, place, and an intimate connection with nature.

Each painting in Plantae is a study of movement and form, capturing the essence of trees not through literal representation but through instinctive strokes, layered textures, and dynamic play of color. The artworks shift between abstraction and familiarity, inviting viewers to experience nature beyond what is seen — to feel it, to sense its presence, and to engage with the energy embedded in each canvas.

The process behind these works is rooted in observation and trust. Eduarte allows each piece to emerge organically, mirroring the way nature unfolds — gradually, unpredictably, yet with purpose. The balance between control and spontaneity reflects the delicate harmony found in the natural world, where life thrives in both structure and wildness.

More than an exhibition, Plantae is an invitation to slow down, to look deeper, and to rediscover our relationship with the environment. It is a reminder that trees and plants, in their quiet generosity, have always given us life. They ask for nothing but appreciation and care in return.

Plantae is on view from 2 to 15 April at the Artistspace, located at ground level of the Ayala Museum Annex, Makati Avenue corner De La Rosa Street, Greenbelt Park, Makati City. The gallery is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free. For more information on the gallery, one may contact Tricia Caisip at +63917-5389365 or email exhibitions@artistspace.org.ph.
