
Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, along with two former House Speakers and a leading Senate candidate, were among the 91 lawmakers who declined to sign the articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte, which were forwarded to the Senate on Wednesday.
Ms. Arroyo, the current representative of Pampanga and former Speaker during President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration, led a group of 20 lawmakers from Luzon who chose not to support the impeachment effort.
Former Speaker Lord Allan Velasco of Marinduque guided 11 legislators in withholding their signatures. Meanwhile, in Mindanao, former Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez of Davao del Norte headed a block of lawmakers who also refrained from signing the impeachment articles.
Additionally, ACT-CIS Partylist Representative Erwin Tulfo, who leads the senatorial surveys, opted not to sign the impeachment documents.
Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar and SAGIP Representative Rodante Marcoleta, both Senate candidates, similarly chose not to lend their support.
Other prominent lawmakers on the list include Tobias Tiangco of Navotas City, Lani Mercado-Revilla and Ramon Jolo Revilla of Cavite, Richard Gomez of Leyte, Paolo Duterte of Davao City, Rufus Rodriguez of Cagayan de Oro City, Jose Maria Zubiri of Bukidnon, and Michael Romero of 1-PACMAN Partylist.
