A man allegedly involved in a murder case in December 2023 was arrested by police on Monday.
The suspect, identified by the alias “Ryan,” is considered one of the most wanted persons in the Northern Police District (NPD).
Police Master Sergeant John Cesar Mendoza of the Northern Police District - District Special Operations Unit (NPD-DSOU) said the murder complaint against Ryan stemmed from an incident where he shot his neighbor in Barangay 12.
“The motive was more of an old grudge. The suspect said that his neighbor kept extorting money from him whenever he passed,” Mendoza said.
Mendoza added that the victim usually demanded P50, or sometimes P100, from the suspect.
Before the incident, Ryan and the victim, identified as “Emilio,” had a verbal altercation that escalated in Pusit Alley. According to the incident report, Emilio's daughter had an argument with Ryan. Upon learning about the confrontation, Emilio was on his way to the suspect’s house when he was shot.
Responding officers recovered two metal fragments and one deformed bullet at the scene.
The autopsy report revealed that the victim was shot several times in the neck and left chest.
“The suspect hid in Samar and San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan, before going back here in Caloocan City where he was arrested,” Mendoza added.
Ryan will face a murder charge, for which no bail was recommended. He is currently detained at the Northern Police District's custodial facility.
