Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Monday reiterated that Malacañan Palace has no involvement in the impeachment complaints lodged against Vice President Sara Duterte, stating that it is the sole prerogative of the House of Representatives.

Bersamin issued this response after Gabriela Party-list Representative Arlene Brosas accused President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of delaying the impeachment complaints against Duterte in the lower chamber.

"The power to initiate and act on impeachment complaints is the sole prerogative of the House of Representatives," he said.

"Out of respect for institutions, the President will not interfere in a matter over which a co-equal branch has exclusive jurisdiction," he added.

Duterte is facing three impeachment complaints filed against her.

According to House Secretary General Reginald Velasco, the complaints will be transmitted to the Office of the Speaker of the House within the week.

Malacañan Palace has maintained that the President's stance on the impeachment complaints against the Vice President remains unchanged despite calls from religious groups and Duterte’s supporters.

Marcos earlier said that the timing is "very poor" to tackle the impeachment complaints against Duterte.

Marcos and Duterte were running mates in the 2022 National and Local Elections under the UniTeam banner.
