A 49-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for switching price tags at a supermarket in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Police identified the suspect as Aspa Jonathan Roxas of Tondo, Manila, who was arrested at around 1:30 p.m. inside the ground floor of a supermarket at F. Huertas Street corner H. Lacson Avenue.
The arrest was made after Marissa de Guzman, a civilian guard employed by Philippine Airhawk Security Agency, observed Roxas engaging in suspicious activity.
According to De Guzman, Roxas ordered a pork cutlet at the fresh food section. He then removed the price tag from a beef c and replaced it with the correct price tag of the pork cutlet. Roxas then paid for the pork cutlet using the beef sukiyaki’s lower price tag.
De Guzman alerted the arresting officer, who followed Roxas to the cashier. Upon checking the receipt, the officer confirmed that Roxas had paid for the pork cutlet at the price of the beef sukiyaki.
