MANGATAREM, Pangasinan — A former rebel supporter has pointed the location of war materiel cache in Sitio Cabalitian, Barangay Santa Maria, San Nicolas, Pangasinan on 26 January.
The Philippine Army’s 71st Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion, through its Bravo Company, successfully recovered the cache of war materiel belonging to the Communist Terrorist Group’s (CTG) dismantled Kilusan Larangang Gerilya Caraballo.
This discovery was carried out with the assistance of a former CTG mass supporter who has since transitioned into being a member of a newly organized People’s Organization of the Battalion in the area.
The recovered items include three rifle grenades, 55 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, two long magazines for M16 rifles, one unit generator set, and several personal belongings.
Lieutenant Colonel Benny Singca, commanding officer of the 71st Infantry Battalion (71IB), expressed heartfelt gratitude to the informant for choosing the path of peace. He calls on the whole community to stay vigilant, as he emphasizes their vital role in preventing the resurgence of such groups and ensuring that the hard-earned peace and stability in the Province of Pangasinan is sustained.
