Werner Wessels, the creative director of Miss South Africa, has officially stepped down from his role, marking the end of a remarkable chapter in his career.

In a heartfelt statement shared on social media, Wessels announced his resignation with gratitude and pride.

“Today, I share with a grateful heart that I have officially resigned as Creative Director of Miss South Africa. This journey has been a dream come true — a journey filled with purpose, passion, and pride. I’m immensely proud of the work we have done and the impact I’ve made. I will forever be grateful to the Miss South Africa Organization for entrusting me with this role,” Wessels wrote.

He expressed deep appreciation for the women he guided and supported during his tenure.

“To all the phenomenal women who have trusted me to guide and support them — a simple thank you would not suffice. Your grace, strength, and resilience have inspired me beyond words. I am so honored to have stood alongside you,” he added.

While Wessels did not disclose the specific reason for his departure, he reaffirmed his admiration for South African women and their resilience.

“I have always said I want my career to be a love letter to women, a celebration of their courage, brilliance, and limitless potential. It is a tribute to South African women, who, despite challenges, rise above and continue to inspire,” he shared.

Admitting it was a difficult decision to leave, Wessels hinted at new opportunities on the horizon.

“My love for this beautiful nation and its women, who are brave enough to believe in the power of their dreams, is at the heart of everything I do. While this marks the end of one chapter, it’s also the beginning of a new and exciting one. The best is yet to come, and I can’t wait to share what’s next,” he concluded.

During his tenure, Wessels left a significant mark on the international pageant scene. He mentored two Miss Universe winners — Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters (2017) and Zozibini Tunzi (2019), Miss World Rolene Strauss (2014), and Miss Supranational Lalela Mswane (2021), solidifying South Africa’s status as a global pageant powerhouse.
