Mogpog dancers top Marinduque tilt

Mogpog National Comprehensive High School claimed the grand prize at the second annual Sto. Niño Dance Festival, securing P50,000 for its captivating performance in Mogpog, Marinduque on Saturday.

The event, organized by Mogpog Christian School Alumni Association Inc. in collaboration with the Hermano and Hermana, showcased the extraordinary talent of grade school and high school students through dynamic dance rituals that told the story of the Filipino people’s journey from paganism to Christianity.

Following Mogpog’s victory, Buntansapa National High School took second place and P30,000, while Nangka Elementary School earned third place with P20,000.

Consolation prizes of P10,000 each were awarded to Balanacan National High School, Balanacan Elementary School, and Puting Buhangin National High School.

In addition to their dance competition success, Mogpog Central School also took first place in the Drum and Lyre Glockenspiel contest, further highlighting the community’s spirit and talent.

This year’s festival not only celebrated the skills of the students but also honored the rich cultural heritage of the region.
