CLARK FREEPORT — The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) is set to hold the Slope Protection Wall Art Competition at New Clark City.
According to a press release issued yesterday, the BCDA said that the competition is in line with its vision of transforming New Clark City into a sustainable, inclusive, and future-oriented metropolis.
With the theme “Blossoming Futures: A Celebration of New Clark City’s Innovation and Rich Biodiversity,” the competition aims to showcase the metropolis’s flora and fauna and raise public awareness on environmental conservation.
The BCDA is inviting artists across the country to join and submit a visually captivating mural design that features New Clark City’s cutting-edge urban development and the surrounding biodiversity.
The winning artist will receive a cash prize of P500,000 and the opportunity to have their design installed on a slope protection wall along One Clark Boulevard in New Clark City — leaving a lasting impact on the cityscape.
“This competition is a celebration of Filipinos’ creativity and ingenuity. Through this activity, we hope to inspire designs that capture the spirit of New Clark City as a beacon of progress and environmental stewardship,” said BCDA president and chief executive officer Engr. Joshua M. Bingcang.
“Through the winning mural design, we hope to embark on a visual roadtrip, all connected by the One Clark Boulevard, symbolizing the unity of people and nature.”
Open to all Filipinos aged 18 and above, BCDA invites participants to showcase the city as a vibrant hub of modernity and nature through a captivating mural design.
Entries will be accepted from 13 January to 23 February. The announcement of the winner will be made on 3 March followed by the awarding of prizes on 10 March.
Participants are required to submit a digital copy of their proposed design presentation via email through nccartdesigncompetition@bcda.gov.ph in PDF format (presentation layout).
Scoring will be based on five criteria, namely, relevance to New Clark City’s identity, culture, history and aspirations (35 percent), technical approaches (25 percent), creativity and originality (20 percent), artistic merit (10 percent), and public engagement and interaction (10 percent).
New Clark City, a development project under the BCDA’s supervision, embodies the Philippines’ aspirations for sustainable urban growth. This city integrates green spaces, innovative infrastructure, and inclusive communities, making it an exemplar of the country’s future cities.
