Just like Filipinos, the Japanese have sweet tooth.

Sucrey Aoyama, a Japanese company, records tens of billions of Philippine pesos in sales for sweets in a year. That’s how big of an industry confectionery is in Japan alone.

“It’s not surprising because they have this omiyage culture (Japanese tradition of giving gifts),” Bryan Tiu, president and chief executive officer of iFoods Inc., said.

iFoods brought Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory to the Philippines in 2019. The brand is famous for irresistible Milk Cheese Cake and Cheese Cookies made from authentic Jersey Milk from Hokkaido, Japan.

Now, together with Sucrey, it wants to bring another brand to make snacking a better.

Usually, butter plays a supporting role in the deliciousness of Western sweets, bringing out richness and aroma and creating a crispy texture. This time, Butter Butler made it the main role.

Butter Butler, a Japanese brand originating from Tokyo, brought its unique and indulgent butter-centric treats to the Philippines when it launched its first store in the country last month at Rockwell, Powerplant Mall.

“Our goal is to elevate the dessert experience by making butter the star of the show, and we believe we’ve achieved that with our delectable offerings,” Tiu said.

Butter Croffle, a Manila exclusive offering, has a crispy, buttery exterior of a croissant and a soft, fluffy interior of a waffle. Butter Financier, meanwhile, features a rich, moist texture and a golden-brown crust. It is made with a special blend of two kinds of European fermented butter and a touch of French sun-dried Guérande salt.

Butter Galette is a classic French pastry made with European fermented butter and French sun-dried Guérande salt. The end result? A crispy, chewy texture that melts in your mouth.
