The Philippine national women’s futsal team aims for its second straight win against host Uzbekistan when they clash on Monday in the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers at the Yunusobod Sport Complex in Tashkent.
Kick-off will be at 6 p.m. (Manila time) as they look to take the top spot in Group C.
The Philippines is coming off a hot start in the competition after a 4-1 win over Kuwait last Saturday.
Katrina Guillou scored in the 2nd and 39th minutes the women’s futsal squad picked up its first win of the tournament.
Bella Flannigan and Dionesa Tolentin also got going for the Philippines after scoring in the 23rd and 26th minutes, respectively.
Shrouq Mohammad scored Kuwait’s lone goal of the match in the 36th minute.
Guillou currently is tied with Australian players Trudy Camilleri and Nikkita Fazzari
The Uzbeks will be enjoying court advantage despite only starting their campaign.
Apart from the Nationals, Kuwaitis and the Uzbeks, Australia and Turkmenistan are also in Group C.
Only the top two squads per group will earn spots in the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup in China from 7 to 18 May.
The Asian Cup serves as a qualifier for the first FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup in the Philippines from 21 November to 7 December.
