Malacañang Palace issued three proclamations that declared special non-working days in certain areas in the provinces of Batangas and Bulacan.
According to Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, these proclamations correspond to local celebrations of particular areas.
Through Proclamation No. 768, 20 January was declared as a special (non-working) day for Lipa City, Batangas in celebration of the Coffee Festival, which the province is known for. Batangueños in Lipa were encouraged to participate in the occasion.
For residents of Bulacan, 23 January was declared as a special (non-working) day, through Proclamation No. 769, for the whole province in commemoration of the 126th anniversary of the inauguration of the First Philippine Republic. This historic event took place in Barasoain Church in Malolos, Bulacan.
Then newly-elected President Emilio Aguinaldo presided over the inauguration of the First Philippine Republic, also known as the Malolos Republic.
The municipality of Lian, Batangas will celebrate its 80th Liberation Day anniversary on 31 January. On this day in 1945, the town of Lian was freed by American forces from Japanese invaders.
Through Proclamation No. 770, Malacañang declared this day as a special (non-working) day to allow its residents to be able to participate and enjoy the celebrations.
These proclamations were signed by the Executive Secretary, by authority of the President, on 7 January.
