Megawide Construction Corp., led by businessman Edgar Saavedra, and its partner Maplecrest Group Inc., will build a P1.87-billion bus transportation system that would seamlessly connect the province of Cavite to Metro Manila.
In a stock exchange filing on Thursday, Megawide said it received the Notice of Award for the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System last 8 January from the Office of the Provincial Governor of Cavite.
“The notice stated that Megawide, together with Maplecrest Group Inc., has been selected as the private sector proponents for the Cavite Bus Rapid Transit Project, with an estimated total cost of approximately P1,870,000,000,” Megawide said.
The award is subject to the fulfillment of all necessary conditions and the submission of required documentation.
The Cavite BRT project covers the development, operation and maintenance of a 42-kilometer BRT and point-to-point (P2P) route. It will connect key areas in Cavite — Imus, General Trias, Tanza, Kawit and Trece Martires — and provide a link to Metro Manila through the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).
The BRT component will serve areas within Kawit, Imus, General Trias, Tanza and Trece Martires, while the P2P component will connect to PITX.
There will be two projects to be developed. Phase 1 includes the construction of Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, a total of 27 BRT stations along a 15-kilometer route, and a 26.5-kilometer P2P route from PITX to Terminal 2 expected to begin operations in 2026.
Phase 2 involves the construction of Terminal 3 and an additional 20 stations, covering 13.79 kilometers from Station 27 to the New Capitol Building in Cavite.
