ALABEL, Sarangani Province — Sarangani Governor Rogelio “Ruel” Pacquiao has responded decisively to allegations of financial irregularities within the provincial government, welcoming an audit of the province’s financial records to address claims made by reassigned former Provincial Accountant Armando Cunanan.
In a statement released Monday, Governor Pacquiao reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and financial integrity.
“The Provincial Government of Sarangani strictly adheres to Republic Act 9184, or the ‘Government Procurement Reform Act,’ and its Implementing Rules and Regulations. Transparency, accountability, and financial integrity are at the core of our governance, as demonstrated by our Seal of Good Local Governance and other national recognitions,” the governor emphasized.
The governor also categorically denied Cunanan’s allegations of financial irregularities, dismissing them as unfounded and politically motivated. “We welcome calls for audit and reviews, as these foster collaboration among government agencies and improve governance for the benefit of Sarangans,” he added.
Cunanan, who was recently reassigned, alleged that he was subjected to “constructive dismissal” and called on the Commission on Audit to investigate purported anomalies under Pacquiao’s administration.
