Firecracker-related cases monitored during the New Year’s Eve of 2024 were 64 percent lower compared to the same period last year, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the DOH recorded 141 new cases of firecracker-related injuries, bring the total case load to 340.
Of the figure, 239 were below 19-years-old, while 101 were above 20-years-old.
Additionally, 299 are male, while 41 are female.
A total of 202 or 59 percent of the victims used illegal firecrackers, such as boga, 5-star, and piccolo.
Meanwhile, 186 or 54.7 percent actively used firecrackers.
The DOH noted that majority of the victims sustained eye injuries, dismemberment of body parts, and skin burns.
